The American University School of Communication will reflect on the Kerner Commission Report 50 years later and explore news media depictions of marginalized groups with former Washington Post reporter Richard Prince, Ferguson protester and citizen journalist Johnetta Elzie, BuzzFeed Muslim life reporter Hannah Allam and Howard University professor Carolyn M. Byerly Feb. 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Malsi Doyle and Michael Forman Theater in the McKinley Building at American University.
Panelists to include Richard Prince, a Washington Post reporter hired in 1968, the year the Kerner Report was released, and publisher of Journal-isms; and Hannah Allam, BuzzFeed News reporter covering Muslim life in America.
