Among the many provocative and entertaining postings on Karlyn’s timeline is this one from Zelaabadeen Zelaabadeen: “Your time on Earth is limited. Don’t try to ‘age with grace,’ age with mischief, audacity and a good story to tell.”
Yes!

It’s always a treat to have Karlyn at our Journal-isms Roundtable, most memorably in 2023 (pictured, above), when, by Zoom, she shared her remembrances of covering the late activist Randall Robinson; < https://tinyurl.com/4sp3vs24 >.

in 2021 (pictured, above), when guest Malcolm Nance had to leave to be on MSNBC to discuss breaking news — a missile attack in the Middle East. < http://bit.ly/37PMWV8 (He returned after his appearance, and Karlyn wrote about that here: < https://tinyurl.com/3ju28wk9> ),

and in 2019, when she brought a festive table or two of folks to our final Journal-isms Roundtable Holiday Party at the Newseum, which closed shortly afterward (pictured; Karlyn is second from right). Karlyn’s account is here: < https://tinyurl.com/e6bcbya4 >.
Karlyn and I go back to the pre-Watergate days at The Washington Post, where she spent 25 years, and she helped a few of us when we put out a magazine for the legendary Foxtrappe club in the mid-70s. < https://bit.ly/2SzYvh2 >, Alas, Karlyn’s St. Patrick Day parties are no more, but the memories remain.
Now Karlyn is busy traveling to vacation spots and living life and, let’s hope, aging with grace, mischief, audacity and a good story to tell.
