When a presidential candidate chooses a running mate, it says a lot about who they are and what kind of president they’ll be. Do they pick someone inexperienced and polarizing who will deepen our divisions? Or do they pick someone with the judgment to make tough decisions, and the character to believe that every voice counts and everyone deserves an equal chance?

By selecting Tim Walz to be her vice president from a pool of outstanding Democrats, Kamala Harris has chosen an ideal partner – and made it clear exactly what she stands for.

Governor Walz doesn’t just have the experience to be vice president, he has the values and the integrity to make us proud. As governor, Tim helped families and businesses recover from the pandemic, established paid family leave, guaranteed the right to an abortion, and put common sense gun safety measures in place to keep communities safe. But Tim’s signature is his ability to talk like a human being and treat everyone with decency and respect – not all that surprising considering the fact that he served in the National Guard for 24 years and worked as a high school social studies teacher and football coach before being elected to Congress.

Like Vice President Harris, Governor Walz believes that government works to serve us. Not just some of us, but all of us. That’s what makes him an outstanding governor, and that’s what will make him an even better vice president, ready on day one. Michelle and I couldn’t be happier for Tim and Gwen, their family, and our country.

Israeli Strike Kills Two From Al Jazeera

An Israeli strike killed Al Jazeera journalist Ismail al-Ghoul and photographer Rami al-Rifi on July 31 while they were on assignment in the north of Gaza, to the outrage of press freedom groups, but the Israeli Defense Forces Saturday published a 2021 Hamas document that it says proves that al-Ghoul was a member of the terror group, Emanuel Fabian and the staff of the Times of Israel reported.

“Al-Ghoul was killed in an IDF drone strike in Gaza City on Wednesday, alongside Al Jazeera cameraman Ramy El-Rify,” the Times of Israel said.

“The IDF said that al-Ghoul participated in the October 7 attack on Israel as a member of the terror group’s elite Nukhba force, and was later involved in instructing terror operatives on how to film and distribute videos of attacks on Israeli troops. . . .”

Reporters Without Borders called Aug. 1 “for increased international pressure on the Israeli government to immediately halt its forces’ massacre of journalists.

“Al Jazeera journalists Ismail al-Ghoul and Rami al-Rifi were reporting live from the al-Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza city, shortly before an Israeli strike hit their car, killing them both.

“Footage published by their colleague Anas al-Sharif shortly after the strike at around 4PM on 31 July shows both reporters killed inside an isolated white car in the middle of an empty street, visibly damaged by a direct strike. Al-Sharif said both reporters were found decapitated. They were wearing their press vests, according to RSF’s information.

“”A statement by the Al Jazeera Media Network called the killings a ‘targeted assassination’ by Israeli forces and pledged to ‘pursue all legal actions to prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes.’

“According to the media outlet, the two reporters had contacted their news desk 15 minutes before the deadly strike. During the call, they reported on another nearby attack and were advised to leave the area. Ismail al-Ghoul, one of Gaza’s most recognisable reporters, had already been arrested by Israeli forces in al-Shifa hospital on 18 March and released 12 hours later. . . .”
